Freelance Web Designer/DevelopeR for wordpress

Impressions Marketing and Events seeks a Freelance Web Designer/Developer for WordPress websites to support the overflow website update and creation needs of our incredible clients. If you love being creative, are organized, have an eye for detail and are willing to ensure an exceptional customer experience, this may be an opportunity for you! We need an action-oriented person who is interested in helping to tackle projects as they become available. WordPress experience is a must.


Our clients are largely in the nonprofit, education and small business industries. The person filling this role will need to feel inspired when creating for these spaces. 


At Impressions, we help organizations fill marketing and event resource gaps while building meaningful community connections. We thrive on helping our clients make an impact and achieve their goals. 


NOTE: This is an overflow contract opportunity, so does not guarantee a certain number of hours or projects in a given time. We frequently have overflow work, so are looking to expand our roster to ensure our clients are well-served.

Responsibilities include:

  • Suggesting the appropriate tools based on site needs (type of website hosting, security, etc);

  • Designing and building the website front-end;

  • Editing/managing Wordpress sites, themes, and/or Page builders;

  • Optimizing website content for load time;

  • Troubleshooting content issues;

  • Conducting training with the client, as needed;

  • Utilizing brand guides for clients to maintain appropriate brand standards; 

  • Reviewing websites prior to launch to ensure design quality and prevent printing errors; 

  • Other graphic elements as needed.


Experience requirements include:

  • 2+ years of web design;

  • Proficiency in CSS and HTML;

  • Proficiency in HTML semantic structure and proper use of tags;

  • Proficiency in working with website builders such as Wix, Squarespace and WordPress; 

  • Proficiency in working with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, and Indesign) (desired, but not required);

  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps, especially Google Docs and Google Sheets;

  • A keen eye for detail;

  • Understanding of JavaScript.

  • Be able to take constructive feedback well and work collaboratively with a team, yet still be able to objectively and kindly defend creative principles.

  • Be skilled in creating, editing, and promoting visual content.

  • Be a self-starter. Our team is small, but achieves a lot for our clients. You must be willing and able to jump in and keep projects moving forward. If you need reminders to get work done, this opportunity is not for you. 

  • Be an excellent communicator. You must be able to show initiative in communicating with team members to achieve desired goals. 

  • Provide exceptional customer service. Our client relationships are important, and maintaining excellent service, that goes above and beyond expectations, is a must! While this position is not frequently client-facing, our service sets us apart from others, and we want to make sure you are on board with this priority.

  • Be dependable. We are counting on you to complete the websites you are tasked with as needed.

  • Enjoy learning. Our industry changes, and we must adapt and change with it. If the idea of learning new technology, tools and techniques makes you break into a sweat… this is not the opportunity for you.

Additional Details:

  • This is a remote opportunity. We prefer candidates in the eastern time zone. No overseas candidates will be considered for this opportunity.
